The quiet whisper from the dark,
It calls again to me now,
The gentle sound of something hated,
Its voice throws my mind into despair.
"I know what hurts you.  Let me take the pain away."

Reason shouts, emotion pleads,
My very essence makes it's stand.
The rains of sadness begin to fall in my soul,
Anxiety makes my blood turn cold.
"Shhhh... there's no need to worry, it's will be ok."

At first my body tries to ignore it,
It's voice is small, it's going to go away,
I believe the sun will shine again for me,
Tingling burning consumes my hands and arms.
"I know you can here me.  Let me help you."

Now I express rage at the voice,
Damning the monster of shadow for being,
I fight and strain to beat back the darkness,
All my muscles tight and sore.
"Just lay down your burdens.  I'm here."

Begging next, pleading and reasoning,
One more moment, just a little longer,
It will all be different soon if we wait,
The lump in my throat choking me.
"Let me take you someplace you'll be happy."

My spirit holds it's breath as the shadow consumes,
The fight lost, the reason ignored,
The rains turn to snow and water to ice,
All locked in the embrace of emptiness.
"Now you feel nothing.  I've taken the pain away."
